Whether you are a first-time mom or a seasoned mommy welcoming a new baby to the family, there’s always so much to consider when selecting a newborn photographer. Below are a few thoughts I will share on newborn photography.
*** Shop the photographer - not the price ***
1) Investment -> Safety : I understand the investment is a key factor when choosing a photographer but a newborn photographer is a niche specialty. There are years of training behind my brand to ensure all measures of safety are properly adhered to throughout your portrait experience.
Your baby is your most precious investment. When you place your baby in the arms of a newborn photographer you are not only trusting you will receive beautiful portraits, but most importantly that the process is safe.
2) Approach : With safety as my number one goal during your newborn portrait session, my approach dictates that in every aspect of planning - always safety first. After years of working with babies, we know how to safely handle each little love. In our studio, baby is always placed in natural, organic poses with comfort in mind.
3) Timing : We work hand in hand with clients to establish the right time fro your newborn photo shoot, Most times we aim between day 5-7 after delivery as baby is still sleepy, curly and cozy in this timeframe. There are always exceptions to this rule, for example: an extended hospital stay, an unexpected issue, a last minute booking, etc….
Regardless of when your session takes place we will prepare you for the experience and guide you with what to expect the day of your portrait session.
Special note: our studio works on baby time & baby is boss :) some newborn portrait sessions are around 2 hours but others may take up to 4 hours. We do not rush the process, every baby is different and we strive to work through sleepy time at baby’s own pace.
