This baby girl arrived with the cutest wardrobe options! I swooned when I saw this outfit - it reminded me of Madeline, my daughter’s favorite cartoon as a toddler herself. We captured some magical moments of this baby girl for her Christmas memories.
====================Mentor moment====================
I’m often asked by those I mentor about photographing toddlers. Many photographers are petrified of this age and I encourage them to embrace toddlers! Even before I became a mom myself, I had the honor to work with little ones since a teen so I have learned a lot about the different stages of childhood. Toddlers have a unique ability to make life hilarious! Just sit back and watch how they explore and relish in the adventure of the little things.
So… how do I photograph toddlers?
Toddlers - oh how I love them! They are curious, unpredictable, full of energy and personality. Each toddler is unique and you never know what to expect and I think that’s why I love them so much! Their little personality shines through as they explore the world around them.
My approach to toddlers may be different than some photographers. Over the past 16 years I have learned teh golden rule - let toddlers be toddlers. You can plan all the technical details of the photo shoot. You can select the location, plan the props and coordinate all the things but when it comes to the toddler - I allow them to bloom in front of my lens. I never force a portrait session. I want it to come natural and be relaxed. I want to capture real emotions, expressions and energy.
