I am always eager to work in a treasured keepsake or heirloom into a portrait session, it makes for sweet memories. Mom brought this gorgeous handmade baby blanket to her custom styled newborn photo shoot. When I saw it, I instantly loved the colors and textures. We played up the blues and greens in the blankie and it photographed so well.
This little guy was altogether precious throughout his newborn portrait session in our West Burlington portrait studio. He snuggled into sleepy time and we captured beautiful images.

This mom-to-be called during her pregnancy to schedule her maternity portrait session as part of her Baby Portrait Plan. We instantly connected and she is all kinds of amazing!
I was so honored when she spoke about how she researched photographers, their portfolios, their style, their quality and more and she chose me! I was so flattered that my online presence had won her over, but then I learned they lived about 2 hours away. My heart sank - I thought I would never get to meet her - we do many clients that travel a bit to arrive at our studio - often an hour or more, but 2 hours...I just wasn't sure. I shared our location with her and the distance of travel to our studio form her home address and thought we would sadly say our goodbyes.
However, she already knew...she had researched our location and said they love to travel and would just make a fun day trip for their sessions. I was elated! I knew from speaking with her, our styles were very similar and her sessions would be amazing - and they have been just that!
For her maternity portrait session, we met at the studio for a little pampering from our hair and makeup artist prior to her maternity photo shoot. While there, we took a peek at her wardrobe selections and they were phenomenal. She chose the perfect colors, patterns, textures in her wardrobe and they photographed so beautifully. We shot at 5 locations, yes 5!!! capturing such a variety of backgrounds of nature, each beautifully selected to compliment her wardrobe choices and the style of photography that we were designing the session around. Her maternity images were stunning, romantic and showcased the love between this sweet couple.
Fast forward... her beautiful baby boy arrived and we welcomed the family back to the studio. He was the perfect little sleeper and cuddled in for a good sleep while we dressed and posed him, capturing precious newborn portrait art. At the end of the session, we focused on parent portraits highlighting the overwhelming love these parents share for their baby boy. These images are absolutely priceless and no doubt will serve as beautiful reminders of this sweet family's journey into parenthood. What I love most about capturing parent portraits during newbron session is the love 0 it's all about the love - and it shines through in every image.
